Owens, Betty Ruth
She was a marvel to meet,
The simple fact that anyone could be so sweet.
She gave of herself all the day through
Stopped and shared her heart with those that were blue.
Baking for the sick, shopping for a friend,
The depth of this woman had no end.
I marveled at her beauty, it was all the way through
To the depth of her being, she was what's true!
The Bible gives us what a woman should be,

Gossett, James H.
James H. Gossett, 80, of Sharpsburg, Ga., a retired industrial air conditioning and heating instructor for Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls, passed away early Monday at Piedmont Newnan Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gossett attacked life with passion, and was self-taught about many topics.
Mr. Gossett grew up in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., before joining the military at 17 years old. He served in the United States Navy from 1951-54 during the Korean War period onboard the USS Wasp, the USS Coral Sea and the USS Saipan, all three aircraft carriers. While in the Navy, he met his future wife, Geraldine. They were married in 1953, a loving union of nearly 61 years. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 6, 2013, with a family gathering at a downtown Atlanta restaurant.
After leaving the Navy, Mr. Gossett moved with his wife to Atlanta, Ga., where the first of their six children was born. He went to work as an air conditioning and heating repair and design technician, working for progressively larger companies with larger responsibilities, including designing, wiring and installing air conditioning systems for a large school district in Georgia. Mr. Gossett turned to teaching following an industrial accident that left him with a severe back injury.
He loved sports, family, golf and his home in Sharpsburg, which he and his wife purchased in 1999 following a protracted battle with the City of Atlanta over their College Park property, which was acquired for fifth runway at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.
“My father attacked everything with gusto and passion. Dad’s formal education ended with a G.E.D., but he never lost his zeal to learn, even when we played golf,” said his oldest son, Forrest. “We were both lousy but he would spend 18 holes analyzing my swing and giving me pointers on how to improve my game, and all-the-while posting triple bogeys for his game.”
