Jeff and Mary Higgins Jeff was born while living in the upstairs apartment of Higgins Hillcrest Chapel.
He lived in the chapel until three years of age. He attended Woodward Academy in
College Park for 13 years, graduating in 1985 to proceed to Florida State University, University of Georgia and Georgia State University. He is also a graduate of Gupton Jones College where he was honored to be a member of the Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity, a scholastic based honor fraternity for mortuary science. Jeff married the former Mary Cook in 1989. Mary also serves the funeral home in the capacity of assistant administrator. The couple has two sons, Jeffrey and David. Jeffrey is in the 11th grade and David is a 9th grader at Northgate High School. They are both on the Varsity Football and Varsity Wrestling teams. Jeffrey is on the student government and on Youth Leadership Coweta, while David is still involved with baseball in the community. The Higgins are members of the Unity Baptist Church in Newnan where Jeff is the part time Director of Music. Jeff has led church music in local churches for over twenty years and has served on many local charities and fund raisers. He has had the opportinity to sing at many events throughout the years including the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, the Southside Theater Guild, the National Anthem at the Atlanta Braves game as well as the privilege to sing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra among other things. Jeff coached his oldest son's baseball team for over a decade in Sharpsburg and had the privilege to coach his younger son's football team in Peachtree City for many years. Fishing, hunting and water skiing with their parents are the boys past times outside of sports. Family is obviously very important to the Higgins family. As a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Georgia, Jeff and his family are here to serve your family in your time of need.
Glenn and Darlene Higgins Glenn and Darlene have been involved in the funeral industry for over forty years.
Glenn has served as a city council member for the city of Fairburn for over twenty years, serving as a deacon, little league coach, board member for Advocates For Special Citizens, Rotary, Kiwanis as well as other charities and groups. He was awarded through the Fulton County Government, "Glenn Higgins Day" on the calender for his work with the less fortunate. Darlene is directly involved with the daily operations of the funeral home. She is the administrator as well as the licensed insurance agent on the staff. She is responsible for filing all the necessary paper work on behalf of each family. This may include death certificate filing, Veterans Administration, Social Security, insurance, as well as any other areas in which families may need her help. Darlene is President of the Kiwanis Club of Coweta County. Glenn and Darlene are both members of the Unity Baptist Church where Darlene sings in the choir. After a preneed account has been established through one of our licensed funeral directors, Darlene is able as an insurance agent to place these monies in state approved providers. She will serve your family in any capacity where she is needed.
Bryan Calhoun Bryan joined the staff almost five years ago as a funeral assistant to families. He helps in all of the daily operations of the funeral home including funerals as well as visitations. He is married to the former Robin Bishop and is a life-long resident of Newnan. They have one son, Sammy, who is three years old. Bryan is the pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church here in Newnan, where he has served for over 13 years. He is currently advancing his education at the Central Baptist School of Ministry so that he can better serve his congregation. Bryan and his family are here to serve the community in any way they can.
Hubert Dean Hubert has been a member of the staff for over eight years. He and his wife, Glenda,
live right here in Newnan. Hubert worked for Ford Motor Company for 14 years and for the City of Newnan Fire Department for over 27 years before his retirement. Hubert works with families on funerals, as well as visitations, and other daily operations of the funeral home. Hubert is here to help your family in any capacity that he can.
Dan and Wilma Wright Dan and Wilma have been members of the staff for over twenty years and Wilma for many more years before that as our pianist. Wilma retired from the Newnan Utilities as the Commission Treasurer with over thirty-one years of service. Dan was a fireman for the City Of Newnan for over 36 years, retiring as Captain over fire investigation. They raised two sons in Newnan, Greg and Gordy. They are members of the Central Baptist Church where Wilma still enjoys playing the piano when needed. Dan and Wilma (Wilma being part of the Higgins family as a cousin) work all visitations and are here to serve you in any way possible.
David Browning Dave has been associated with the Higgins family for nearly forty years. He and his wife Dyan live here in Newnan and are members of the First United Methodist Church of Newnan. Dave retired from Eastern Airlines and then worked for many years at the Chick-Fil-A headquarters. He has three children; his youngest, Todd, is a local businessman here in Newnan. He is involved with the Kiwanis Club of White Oak Golden K, and Dyan is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Coweta County. She is a retired school teacher for Coweta County. Dave is here to help you in your time of need.
Sam and Xochitl Stein Sam is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and is involved in many areas of the funeral home. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia as well as the Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service. Xochitl also graduated from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service and amoung her duties, helps with the needs of Hispanic families in their time of need. It is wonderful to have funeral personnel that can easily communicate without a language barrier. Sam and Xochitl make their home in Sharpsburg with their three beautiful children.
Christie Crawford Hayes Christie has been a life-long friend of the Higgins family, growing up with Jeff and Mary. She graduated from the Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service, and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Georgia. She is married to Scott, has two young daughters, and makes her home in Coweta County. She owns Christie Hayes and Associates Real Estate here in Newnan. Christie is a valued funeral director to our firm.
